Step 1: File the free edge of your nails. This is your chance to define the shape of your nails before you embark on your mani. The most common shapes are square, round, oval and squoval. Gels can last between 2-3 weeks, so make sure the free edge is even in length.
Step 2: Soak your nails in warm water for a few minutes to ensure they’re nice and soft, then gently push your cuticles back using an orange stick to create space for your manicure.
Step 3: Using a nail buffing block, gently buff the nail surface to remove any shine – you’re aiming to prime the surface of your nails by removing shine and creating a surface that gel nail polish will grip onto.
Step 4: Prepare your nails using mylee Prep & Wipe to create a more adhesive surface. Prep & Wipe is a dual-purpose product that sanitises the nail plate while preparing the perfect surface for long-lasting gel polish adhesion.
Step 5: Paint on a Base Coat. Take care to apply the base coat as closely as possible to the edges of your nails, without touching the cuticles. A good base coat is vital if you want your manicure to last.
Step 6: Wait for the base coat to cure. Curing takes 15 seconds with a mylee LED Lamp or 120 seconds with a UV Lamp.
Step 7: Once the base coat has cured, apply a thin layer of glitter gel polish. Try to spread the glitter particles evenly across the nail bed. You can use an orange stick to move the glitter specks around to have more control over where it spreads. Cure then repeat the same process for the second coat.
Step 8: Top Coat the final gel layer, this leaves the nails with a high glossy shin, make sure to remove any tackiness within a Lint Free Wipe and Prep & Wipe.
