With the new year rolling around once again (we can't quite believe it either), it's the perfect time to refresh your nail game. And 2024 is calling for all things sparkly.

We've rounded up some of our favourite glitter nail ideas that we're predicting will be huge this coming year and for the foreseeable future. From showcasing our new Spotlight Gels collection to some of our more classic glitter polishes, you'll find a whole host of ideas to help you achieve the perfect sparkly nail designs – there's bound to be something that catches your eye.

So, let's get to it: here's our ultimate round-up of glitter nail ideas that are sure to be trending in 2024.

Pink Reflective Glitter Nails

We're definitely saving this one for Valentine's in 2024.

Our talented Brand Ambassador @rubypolish has created these super sweet reflective gel nails using our Gigi Spotlight Gel Polish along with our bestselling Break The Ice shade for the white nail art.

To get lines as precise and perfect as Ruby, we recommend using an ultra-fine nail art brush.

How to Recreate the Look

  1. After prepping your nails, apply Builder Gel in Blush and cure for 60 seconds under our Pro LED Lamp.

  2. Apply the pink glitter gel polish to the entire pinky and ring fingernail, and create French tips on your index and thumb fingernails. Cure for 30 seconds.

  3. Dip your nail art brush into Break The Ice and create the stars and line nail art as shown above.

  4. On your middle fingernail, draw a heart outline onto the centre of your nail. Flash cure for 15 seconds.

  5. Take your pink glitter polish once more and fill in the area of your nail around the heart outline, leaving the centre of the heart clear. Cure for 30 seconds.

  6. Apply a layer of No Wipe Top Coat and cure a last time.

Y2K Glitter Checkerboard Nails

Glitter Checkerboard Nails

Y2K nails aren't going anywhere in 2024, so why not combine the trend with a bit of glam? Ruby has once again put her gel nail art skills to the test with these glittery checkerboard nails.

Here, she's used our Gatsby Spotlight Gel for the reflective silver polish alongside our Witching Hour Crème CaraGel

You could easily switch out the reflective gel for a regular silver glitter polish, like Shake It Off or Silver Screen.

How to Get the Look

  1. On prepped nails, apply a Base Coat layer and cure for 30 seconds under the Pro LED Lamp.

  2. Apply your chosen silver glitter gel polish to all your nails, and cure again.

  3. Take a nail art brush and dip into the Witching Hour Crème Caragel. Create the checkerboard and wavy faces on your nails, as shown in the picture above. Cure for 30 seconds.

  4. Seal in your Y2K-inspired mani with a No Wipe Top Coat and cure for a final time.

Silver French Tips

Silver French Tips

French tips, anyone?

We know this is a classic look, but adding silver instead of white takes it up a notch. Our Shut Up And Drive Gel Polish is perfect for this look, with a shimmery dark-silver finish that catches beautifully under the light.

If silver isn't really your thing, you could switch it up with another one of our glitter colours for an equally pretty look.

Sparkly Green French Tips

Earthy tones well and truly had a moment in 2023, and we're taking these shades along with us into the new year

Our incredible Brand Ambassador @nailsbyem_x has used our Oasis Gel Polish for the khaki green colour and topped it off with our Glitter No Wipe Top Coat for a sparkly finish.

This is subtle but still stunning – a great minimalist nail look.

Purple Glitter Nail Design

This purple glitter nail art by @gels_by_ki is most definitely going into our spring nails lookbook for 2024.

She's perfectly combined our All That Glitters in Perfect with the Primrose Hill and Lilac U A Lot Gel Polish to create a pinky-purpley-pastel mani with a touch of sparkle.

And for the little chrome heart, she's used our Chrome Powder Pen in Rose Gold buffed over a No Wipe Top Coat.

How to Achieve the Look

  1. Apply a Base Coat layer to prepped nails and cure for 30 seconds under an LED lamp.

  2. Take your Primrose Hill shade and apply to your thumb, middle, and ring fingernails. Cure again.

  3. Apply Lilac U A Lot to your remaining nails and cure.

  4. Apply All That Glitters in Perfect to the tacky layer, either with a nail art brush or by sprinkling over your nail.

  5. Encapsulate the glitter with a layer of Clear Builder Gel and cure for 60 seconds.

  6. Gently buff the nail to create a matte surface and wipe over. This is important so the chrome pigment doesn’t stick to the bottom later of your mani in the next step.

  7. Create a tiny heart on your middle fingernail by dipping an ultra fine nail art brush into a No Wipe Top Coat and cure.

  8. Buff the Rose Gold Cushion Powder Pen into the No Wipe Top Coat in circular motions.

  9. Apply a layer of No Wipe Top Coat to all your nails and cure a final time.

Red Glitter French Tips

If red is more your thing, we've got the perfect combo for you.

For this look, we've simply switched out the khaki green for a chic rust-red shade using our Rust Gel Polish

Once again, we've sealed it all in with the Glitter No Wipe Top Coat for a subtle sparkle.

Black Glitter Nails

Long nail lovers, this one's for you.

We've painted these stiletto nails with our Once Upon A Night Gel Polish – a jet-black base colour scattered with silver glitter.

This shade also looks great on shorter nails and other nail shapes, too, so don't be afraid to get creative with it! Just apply the black glitter polish over a cured base coat and seal in with a No Wipe Top Coat.

Gold Glitter Star Nail Art

This mani sparkles as brightly as the stars in the night sky themselves, thanks to our Singin' In The Rain Spotlight Gel

We've created a French tip and star nail art using our reflective gold glitter polish and a fine nail art brush to keep the lines as straight as possible.

Our other gold glitter polishes will work just as well for this look, like Gold Digger or Fields Of Gold.

How to Create the Look

  1. After nail prep, apply a layer of Peach Builder Gel to your nails and cure for 60 seconds under our LED Lamp.

  2. Take your chosen gold glitter polish and apply to your entire thumb and pink fingernail.

  3. Dip a nail art brush into the polish bottle and create a classic French tip on your index fingernail, or use our Stamp It Out tool.

  4. Using the same brush, draw on the stars onto your middle and ring fingernails.

  5. Cure for 30 seconds.

  6. Apply No Wipe Top Coat to all your nails and cure once more.

FAQs

Are glitter nails on trend?

Glitter nails are never not on trend. Silver and gold glitter looks are always going to be popular, especially around summer and the festive season. But you can also experiment with a broader range of glitter colours, like red, pink, green, and black.

Can you mix glitter with gel polish?

Yes, and it's a really easy way to achieve a beautiful glitter mani. You can mix fine nail glitter with a base coat and apply it directly over a cured Base Coat or gel colour.

What is the difference between reflective glitter polish & glitter polish?

Reflective glitter polish contains light-reflecting pigments and glitter that 'illuminate' underneath a light or flash. Regular polish, on the other hand, doesn't contain these reflective particles but will still sparkle.

Can you mix glitter with Builder Gel?

We wouldn't recommend mixing nail glitter in with your Builder Gel – the consistency is a little too thick. Instead, use Builder Gel to encapsulate and glide over the top of your glitter to seal it in.
